Almond Blossom Walk – 12th February
The Jalon Valley Help Almond Blossom Walk took place on Sunday. Over 75 enthusiastic walkers departed from the Rastro Car Park at 10.30am and enjoyed the delights of the full blossom on the circular route towards Parcent and Alcalali and back to Jalon. The Charity were extremely pleased to receive donations amounting to 188euros which will be used to help the needy in the local area. Thanks go to Jean Farrimond who led the walk again this year.
What a fantastic day! Our annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday 13 November at the Pensionistas Building in Jalon was epic! From the minute the doors opened at 10am until the close at 2pm, the visitors flocked in, to the delight of the waiting stallholders. As usual there was an array of crafts, gifts, books, tombolas and a fabulous raffle. Entertainment was provided by the U3A Casual Choir who sang a selection of favourites including Christmas songs. They also had their recently recorded CD of Beatles songs for sale, the profits of which are being donated to the JVH charity. A [..More..]
Charity Quiz – 29th September 2016
On Thursday evening, 13 teams competed in another very popular Quiz Night organised by our Fundraising team. The Quizmasters Jan and Harry Byatt must accept a huge thank you for setting some very challenging questions that certainly got quite a few brains thinking hard. After calculating the scores, the winning team was declared to be the Five Amigos. An excellent meal was provided by Pedro and his staff at the Awraba Restaurante in Orba, a new venue for us and one that will certainly be used again in the future. Careline Concert – 24th September 2016
On Saturday evening, two fabulous local choirs – The Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir and Valley Voices – sang at the Careline Theatre in Alcalali, to an appreciative near-capacity audience. The choice of music from the Male Voice Choir included Rhythm of Life, Can You Feel the Love Tonight and the South African Zulu Protest Song, Senzenina, whilst Valley Voices chose, amongst others, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Something Inside So Strong and Mamma Mia.
