What a fantastic day! Our annual Christmas Bazaar on Sunday 13 November at the Pensionistas Building in Jalon was epic! From the minute the doors opened at 10am until the close at 2pm, the visitors flocked in, to the delight of the waiting stallholders.
As usual there was an array of crafts, gifts, books, tombolas and a fabulous raffle. Entertainment was provided by the U3A Casual Choir who sang a selection of favourites including Christmas songs. They also had their recently recorded CD of Beatles songs for sale, the profits of which are being donated to the JVH charity. A donation to the charity was also presented by the U3A Writers Group whose published book “All in the Mix” was also displayed.
Then the children of the Footworks Theatre Group from Javea, under the direction of Miss Izzy, showed a range of their talents from tap, to ballet and musical numbers. Their two little girls aged 3 and 4 years certainly stole the show, and they all received loud applause from the appreciative audience. To complete the afternoon, there was the ever popular fashion show, where clothes from Jalon Valley Help’s two charity shops were modelled and then promptly sold afterwards.
A total of 5,156 euros was raised which Elaine Horton, our President, said was “simply a magnificent amount of money”. She also praised the great volunteers of Jalon Valley Help and said how proud she is of each and every one of them.
